Bitter tea (Kuding) is mainly produced at Nanhai’s Dabu in the Guangdong province. Due to its unique characteristics, one tea leaf is able to make a cup of tea, hence its name. 1g of one leaf tea can make 150ml of tea. Its taste is strong and bitter at first with sweetness afterwards. The color of bitter tea is light green. The size of the tealeaf is bigger than the normal tealeaf for by 1.5-2 times.
It is reputed as “green gold” because of its numerous health benefits. According to some scientific research, bitter tea is especially good for people with hypertension and diabetes. It aids digestion and helps emulsify fat and constipation. Nowadays bitter tea is popular as a slimming tea. This tea does not have any side effects but it is not recommended for babies and expectant woman.
